Analysis on the text.

While reading the text I found it very similar to the Society of the Sceptical by Guy Debord. I find it similar in the context that both Guy and Benjamin have this distaste for mass production and an alienation of the product (design or art work). In the sense that designers, authors and so on, are making work based on mass production, based on tools of modernisation. This can be seen when he claimed that communication–film, radio, advertising, newspapers, the illustrated press–were melting down traditional artistic genres and corroding the borders between writing and reading, authoring and editing.

While I agree with some of things written in the article and it is true that it can be seen within the world today , I believe that the article it is too one sided, and that Ellen as well as Benjamin's views are only looking at the faults of modernism, mass production, and isn't looking at the more optimistic side of things. For instance how with media, video and so one designers are able to connect critic and also have the freedom to share there work. How with the help of this so called tools have helped not only designers have helped carryout information ( from my perspective or thinking as a graphic designer i believe that communicating ones idea to a certain audience or ones audience is very important).
